We leap your soar!

We leap your soar!

We strive to ensure our Graduate Associates have a progressive development plan to nurture their skills and talents and progress in their chosen area.

But what is different about Standard Chartered's approach to developing talent? Quite simply, we have a passion for people's strengths. We find out where people's talents really lie. Then we help people to develop those talents and apply them to a series of challenges that are amongst the most stimulating and varied in the market. Our approach might sound obvious but in fact many organisations recruit graduates only to squeeze them into a corporate mould. We think that's wrong. Yes, we expect our Graduates, like all our employees, to share and live by our values; these are what make our business live and breathe. But beyond that, we're fascinated by the contribution that can only be made by each individual, with their unique strengths and distinctive view of the world.

There are other reasons why some of the best Graduates in our markets choose to build their careers with Standard Chartered. We are prepared to take risks on our people, prepared to accelerate their careers and give them big roles, early on.

Every Graduate Associate will benefit from a two-year programme including stretching job rotations, ongoing performance coaching, three residential workshops and support tools such as e-learning and a buddy process.

The Bank offers exceptional international exposure to our Graduates during and following the programme, whether it be working in a global project, attending the residential programmes or just talking to colleagues on the other side of the world!

Your journey on the International Graduate Development Programme will begin with a local induction. This will be run in your home country and has been designed to give you a clear understanding of the organisation, an in-depth view of your country's businesses and functions and details of on-the-job training. It will also give you an opportunity to network with business managers and to clarify your development plan at the outset.

This programme has been described as ‘a survival kit’ for new Graduate Associates. In fact it is much more than that. Firstly you will get the opportunity to build an international network and develop friendships within the GA community. Secondly, you will learn about the organisations strategy, market challenges, risks and opportunities and how that translates to your business and country. You will also have the opportunity to build your own self-awareness and learn more about our core values.

Roughly one year into your career with us you attend a second residential workshop focusing on your individual career development. We help you to identify your strengths and understand how you can best leverage them. You will go through a series of challenging activities aimed at understanding your own motivations and drivers, building upon your networking and personal effectiveness skills.

This workshop marks the end of your time as a Graduate Associate and helps you to take full ownership of your career. We provide you with structured opportunities for self-assessment, looking in-depth at what you’re good at and where your aspirations lie. We help you to take control of your career goals and look forward to a long lasting, successful future with Standard Chartered! At the end of the two-year programme we take a close look at your individual development needs and career aspirations and start to match these with challenging career opportunities available - these may including cross-functional and cross-geography moves, if appropriate.
